I-94 To Close Overnight Twice In St. Paul Next Week

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Late night and early morning drivers on Interstate 94 next week will notice closures and detours in St. Paul.

MnDOT said Thursday that a section of the interstate between Marion Street and Lexington Parkway will close overnight Monday and Wednesday.

On Monday at 11 p.m., the westbound lanes of I-94 will close. They should reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday.

On Wednesday at 11 p.m., the eastbound lanes of the interstate will close. They too should reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.

A detour will take drivers along Interstate 35E, Highway 36 and Highway 280. Delays should be expected.

The closures are needed, MnDOT says, as crews set beams in the MacKubin Street and Grotto Street bicycle and pedestrian bridges, which are being replaced.

The bike and pedestrian bridges will be closed until November. In the meantime, cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to use Dale Street.
