Hwy 7 Closes After Massive Tank Falls Off Semi

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says traffic is being rerouted from Highway 7 after a semi carrying a massive tank lost its load in Victoria early Wednesday morning.

According to the state patrol, the commercial vehicle carrying a 368,000-pound tank lost its load shortly before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Highway 7 is now closed until at least 6 a.m. Thursday. Crews spent several hours on Wednesday working to build a crane to lift the tank onto a new 20-axle trailer.

"State Patrol commercial vehicle inspectors are working to determine why the load shifted and fell from the truck. The truck carrying the load leaked both diesel fuel and hydraulic fluids. It is unknown how much fluid was lost in the leaks, but all leaks are now contained," the patrol said.

Traffic is being rerouted on Highways 5, 12 or 212.
