SILVER LAKE, Minn. -- Two people died Thursday morning following a crash on Highway 7 in central Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened around 11 a.m. near Silver Lake, which is roughly 50 miles west of Minneapolis.

The state patrol says a Ford Fusion was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and collided with a Ford Explorer. Wilmer Espinoza Herrera, 25, and Fanny Ramirez Perez, 21, were in the Ford Fusion and died in the crash. A 2-year-old boy who was in the car with them survived.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Explorer suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The crash left a section of Highway 7 closed for several hours as investigators worked the scene.
