Police Chase Involving Stolen Car Ends In Flames On Highway 100 In Golden Valley

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – A police chase involving a stolen vehicle ended in flames and backed up the morning commute on Highway 100 in Golden Valley Thursday morning.

According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, the incident began with a shots fired call on the 1500 block of 89th Avenue just before 6 a.m.

Callers reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing a speeding vehicle flee the scene.

Around the same time, officers learned of a suspicious vehicle nearby, matching the description of the suspect vehicle from the first call.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver – later identified as a 19-year-old man – fled. The chase made its way onto Highway 100, where police eventually managed to stop the vehicle near Duluth Street. Police said the vehicle caught fire after it was stopped.
