Hastings Company Offers 'Extreme Sandbox' Experience Of A Lifetime
HASTINGS, Minn. (WCCO) -- Our childhood days of playing "construction" in a sandbox are back. A company in Hastings is offering up real construction equipment and plenty of sand for the experience of a lifetime.
Our Edward Moody went to the facility to show us what it's like to play at "Extreme Sandbox."
The company offers experiences for all occasions, including birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties or just an excuse to get out on your own, do something different and have fun. The experience starts with signing paperwork required by the company and a 20 to 30-minute video training session on their equipment.
Randy Stenger, who owns Extreme Sandbox and is the father of three boys, said he got the idea years ago after driving by a construction site with his kids. They said it would be fun to have a big area like a construction site to have dirt to play around with, and the concept was born.
The workers at the site teach you how to drive the equipment and use the buckets to scoop dirt and move it around. The instructors even taught us how to pick up a demolished car and move it with the teeth of a bucket.
Along with birthdays and other parties, Extreme Sandbox also does corporate team building workshops. Packages there range from about $200 and go over $1000 depending on if you're going an individual or group activity.
