Handcuffed Teen Escapes Custody Before St. Cloud Court Appearance
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 14-year-old juvenile offender is on the loose and handcuffed after escaping before a hearing at the Stearns County Courthouse Wednesday morning.
St. Cloud Police say the teen fled northbound on foot from the intersection of 7th Avenue North and 2nd Street North just before 10 a.m.
The teen had been driven from KidsPeace Mesabi Academy in Buhl to the courthouse, and fled just after the transport vehicle had parked.
He was in handcuffs placed in front of his body, which are attached to a brown leather transport belt secured around his torso.
The teen is described as a black male who is about 145 pounds and stands 5 feet 8 inches tall. He has medium-length curly hair, and was wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.
He was about to appear at a hearing for a gross misdemeanor indecent exposure charge, and for giving false information to a police officer in Stearns County in 2013.
A Stearns County judge issued a warrant for his arrest after he fled custody.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call St. Cloud Police or 911. A monetary reward is being offered for his capture.
