Hagedorn Wants 2016 Congressional Rematch Against Walz

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Blue Earth businessman Jim Hagedorn wants a 2016 rematch against the Democratic congressman who beat him last year.

Hagedorn announced another run for Minnesota's 1st Congressional District on Tuesday. Tim Walz first won the seat representing southern Minnesota in 2006.

Hagedorn says he has a bigger campaign team and stronger fundraising than he did last time. He pulled an upset primary win over the GOP-endorsed candidate in 2014 but struggled to raise money.

Walz is a former high school teacher and retired command sergeant major in the National Guard. He's been a leading Democrat in the House on veterans and agricultural issues. Hagedorn says Walz has failed to make his mark during his time in Congress.
