Guy On A Bike: Help Spirit Mountain Win $100K for MTB Trails

Bell Helmets will soon award $100K to fund a trailbuilding project, and Duluth's Spirit Mountain Bike Park is among the finalists. Now the project needs your vote to win the cash.

Online voting takes place through June 4th and, although the project is second, it is woefully behind a Knoxville, TN project, which currently leads by thousands of votes.

Duluth Mayor Ron Ness is even trying to rally the troops and get cyclists and others to #VoteDuluth: "This will only further secure Duluth as an outdoor recreation destination. The revitalization of the St. Louis River corridor will benefit our entire city, and winning an entire new trail here at Spirit Mountain will only help that along."

If the Duluth program wins the contest, Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores (COGGS) plans to build a downhill trail close to the Spirit Express II chairlift. Spirit Mountain is one of only three mountain bike parks in the Midwest served by chair lifts. The addition of this trail would enhance the mountain biking experience offered at Spirit Mountain.

Now is the time to log on and vote. The June 4th deadline is only hours away.

Note: Your vote will not count until you follow the link you receive in the confirmation email.
