Covered Wagon Rides In Bemidji
After spending a couple days here in Bemidji, it is easy to see why this is such a popular tourist stop. There are so many things to see and do, and Friday Amelia and Liz got a chance to go back in time. They visited Buena Vista Ski Resort. Wendall -- also known as Short -- took them on a covered wagon ride with his horses, Dot and Molly. Wendall, who is almost 80, is such a great guy! He took them to the highest natural point in Beltrami County, which he says is a continental divide. Larson Lake flows south into the Gulf of Mexico. And Lake Julia flows into Red Lake, which flows into the Hudson Bay. Wendall gives these tours all summer long. Click here for more information.
Bean Bag Tournament
Amelia and Liz did some competitive rowing Thursday, and Friday brought yet another competition! When they saw there was a bean bag tournament as part of the Dragon Boat Festival, they wanted in. The organizers were nice enough to give Team 'CCO a chance!
Liz and Amelia got to check out Bemidji Brewing's new tap room. They outgrew their old space and are now in a spot four times the size. They've got nine to 10 beers on tap at a time and, thanks to the new space, are now able to brew five times as much beer as they used to. They upgraded from a three barrel system to a 15 barrel that will allow them to brew four different beers at a time.
Pontoon Ride
While the Dragon Boat Festival teams were on the water getting in some practice runs, Liz and Amelia were across the lake learning a little more about its history thanks to the naturalist at Lake Bemidji State Park.
