3 Children, Woman Found Dead In Grand Forks Home

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP/WCCO) — A police officer making a welfare check found four people dead in a North Dakota home Thursday.

Administrators at Lewis and Clark Elementary School asked for the check on the home on the south side of Grand Forks. The responding officer saw what appeared to be a body inside the home and went in.

Authorities say all four victims are Grand Forks residents, and they all died of gunshot wounds. Grand Forks police say a handgun was recovered at the scene.

The four were identified as 35-year-old Astra Volk, 6-year-old Arianna Talmage, 10-year-old Aidan Talmage and 14-year-old Tyler Talmage. Police say Volk is the biological mother to the three children.

Update From Lt. Zimmel of Grand Forks police:

Police say the investigation shows the incident was limited to the residence where the four were found, no arrests have been made and no suspects are being sought.

The investigation is active. Meanwhile, police are encouraging the public to avoid the area.
