Gov. Walker Halts Campaigning To Attend Marine's Funeral

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has canceled presidential campaign stops in North Carolina and New Hampshire so he can attend the funeral of a Wisconsin native who was one of four Marines killed in last week's shootings in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Walker plans to attend Saturday's funeral for 25-year-old Sgt. Carson Holmquist at Grantsburg High School. Holmquist was a 2008 graduate of Grantsburg High School. He joined the Marines in 2009 and served two tours of duty in Afghanistan.

Walker announced Thursday that he was canceling one campaign stop in North Carolina as well as a house party and motorcycle tour with former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown in New Hampshire on Saturday.
