Gophers Kloos, Fasching Earn Big Ten Honors After Weekend Sweep
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota men's hockey team got a pair of one-goal victories Friday and Saturday to earn a sweep of Ohio State.
Justin Kloos and Hudson Fasching earned two of the Big Ten's three Stars of the Week on Tuesday as a result of the weekend. Kloos was named the First Star of the Week and Fasching earned the Second Star of the Week.
Kloos had four points on the weekend, two goals and two assists, for the Gophers. Both goals came Friday night, including the game-winner in overtime, and had an assist. He added an assist in Saturday's victory. It's his fourth career Big Ten award and first this season.
Fasching also had two goals and two assists in the weekend series. He had an assist in the third period of Friday's win. Saturday, he scored short-handed and even strength goals and had another assist. The award is the seventh of Fasching's career and third this season.
The Gophers are 11-3 in Big Ten play with three series left in the regular season. They are off this weekend before hosting Michigan Feb. 25-26 at Mariucci Arena.
