Gophers Face Wisconsin In Big 10 Women's Tourney

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota has the sixth seed for the Big Ten women's basketball tournament, and the Gophers will bring two of the conference's biggest stars to the event.

The Gophers finished 8-8 in Big Ten play and 19-11 overall.

They'll play 11th seed Wisconsin in Indianapolis in the opening round Thursday night. If they win, they'll face third seed Nebraska Friday night. The Gophers are seeking their first NCAA tournament bid in five years.

Junior guard Rachel Banham led the league in scoring with an average of 22.4 points per game. Center Amanda Zahui B. finished first in the conference with an average of 11.3 rebounds per game.

Banham was voted All-Big Ten first team by both the coaches and the media. Zahui B. was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year.
