Gophers' Bristedt Earns Big Ten Third Star

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Leon Bristedt had a big weekend as the University of Minnesota men's hockey team earned a split in non-conference action at Notre Dame.

Bristedt led the Big Ten and tied for first nationally with three goals over the weekend. On Tuesday, he was named the league's Third Star of the Week. It's Bristedt's first career Big Tne honor.

He had two goals as the Gophers lost to Notre Dame 4-3 Friday night. It was his first career multi-goal game. He added his third goal of the weekend in Saturday's 4-1 victory.

Bristedt has seven points, four goals and three assists, in seven games this season.

The Gophers are back in action this weekend, facing Minnesota State University, Mankato in a home-and-home series. Friday's game is in Mankato, and the series returns to Mariucci Arena Saturday.
