Gophers Beat UM-Crookston In Exhibition Opener, 74-57
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The University of Minnesota men's basketball team opened its season with a 74-57 victory over Minnesota-Crookston Sunday night in an exhibition game at Williams Arena.
The game was not official and does not count towards the Gophers regular season record.
Minnesota trailed 16-9 early before going on a 15-3 run to take a 24-19 lead. The Gophers had a 30-26 lead at the half and pulled away in the second half.
Freshman Jordan Murphy led Minnesota with 19 points and nine rebounds. Nate Mason added 12 points and four assists. Charles Buggs scored 11 points and had five blocks.
The Gophers have one more exhibition contest Friday night at Williams Arena against Southwest Minnesota State. Minnesota opens the regular season on Friday, Nov. 13, against the University of Missouri-Kansas City at Williams Arena.
