Gophers Basketball Sets 2014-15 Schedule
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The University of Minnesota men's basketball program announced its 2014-15 schedule late last week as Richard Pitino enters his second year with the program.
The Gophers, coming off an NIT title, will have 17 home games during the regular season. Minnesota will host the University of Minnesota-Duluth in an exhibition on Nov. 6, then open the regular season in Puerto Rico against Rick Pitino's Louisville squad that puts son against father. The game, being played on a hangar for the Armed Forces Classic, will be played on ESPN.
Minnesota's home opener will be the following week in the opening round of the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Gophers will have two other games as part of that tournament on Nov. 26 and Nov. 28 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Gophers will travel to Wake Forest for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday. Dec. 2.
Minnesota will open its Big Ten schedule at Purdue on New Year's Eve. The Gophers first Big Ten home game will be Jan. 6, 2015, against Ohio State. Minnesota closes out its regular season March 5 and 8 against Wisconsin and Penn State.
The Big Ten Tournament will be March 11-15 at the United Center in Chicago.
