MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Top-ranked Goodhue defeated Maranatha Christian Academy 89-64 in the Class 1A girls' final Saturday at Williams Arena.

Maddy Miller, Taylor Larson and Sydney Lodermeier all had double-doubles to lead Goodhue to its first state championship. Miller led all scorers with 28 points.

The Wildcats (30-4) surged into halftime as six different Goodhue players scored in a 17-6 run to take a 39-25 lead just before intermission.

Goodhue didn't allow Maranatha to get much closer in its first state final appearance since 2010.

The Mustangs (26-7) were seeded third in the tournament, and have now lost in the state final in consecutive seasons. Maranatha, a private school in Brooklyn Park, earned back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012.

Elise Moore and Alaina Jarnot each had 18 points to lead the Mustangs.
