Good Question: How Does Our State Fair Stack Up?

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) -- Each year since 1885, families have come out to the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Last year, the fair had record-breaking attendance. There are other state celebrations across the country. So how does our fair compare? Good Question.

"I think we get more people than anyone. I mean we're the great state of Minnesota out here," one boy at the fair said.

"Well it really depends on how you measure it," Brienna Schuette with the Minnesota State Fair said.

In 2014, the fair drew in a record-breaking 1,824,830 million people in 12 days. That's second to the state fair of Texas with 2,855,949 million visitors.

"But they run 24 days. Not everything is bigger in Texas," Schuette said. "So if you look at per day attendance the Minnesota State fair is larger."

Minnesota has an average of 152,069 people per day, or 33,000 more per day than Texas.

"If you look at per day attendance of Disney World, ours is almost double that," Schuette said.

Last year the state fair also broke a daily attendance record, with 252,092 people on a Saturday.
