Relative: Stabbing Victim Was Killed By Teenage Daughter

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Family members are in shock after they say a 14-year-old girl was arrested for taking her father's life.

The family said 48-year-old Christopher Hoskins' daughter stabbed him Tuesday evening in the family home in the 3200 block of 6th Street North in Minneapolis.

Hoskins was taken to North Memorial Medical Center, but did not survive.

Family members told WCCO the teen loved her father, and they are trying to figure out what went wrong.

Coriel Lowry, Hoskins' niece, created a GoFundMe page for him. Via email, she said Hoskins was a mechanic and the father of eight children. She wrote on his GoFundMe page that she hopes the donations will help give her uncle the funeral he deserves.

Neighbors were learning the news of what happened on Wednesday afternoon. Amirah Force says the McKinley neighborhood has been a quiet place to live in recent years.

"This like a family community and everyone gets along," Force said. "He's a really nice guy, he's fast-talking, he talked to everyone, he smiles."

Hoskins' sister Cassandra, who lives out of state, also told WCCO about his signature smile. She says he was not perfect, but he was willing to help anyone. She says she knows her brother loved "that little girl," and does not believe the teen meant to do it.

"I forgive her wholeheartedly," Cassandra Hoskins said.

Neighbors are moving forward without judgment.

"We don't know what the circumstances of the situation was," said neighbor Casandra Dixon. "I wish the best for the family."

Minneapolis police records show the teen was taken to Children's Hospital for medical treatment Tuesday, and then was booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.

Police did not comment further on the case Wednesday.
