Gas Line Hit Prompts Road Closures Near University Of Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A construction mishap caused a gas leak, and traffic troubles, near the University of Minnesota Sunday afternoon.
A crew hit a natural gas line near the corner of Huron Boulevard and Fulton Street Southeast in Minneapolis.
Residents leaving for the days activities are being allowed to walk out of buildings away from scene but no one is allowed to enter this area. @energyinsights crew seen taking readings near manhole covers and drains @WCCO https://t.co/s5dA0udAxf pic.twitter.com/WHBwN92pp7

Firefighters checked the air quality and said there was no reason for concern.
Since the fire rigs stayed on scene until the line was patched, it slowed traffic down in the area, temporarily closing the Huron Boulevard exit on Interstate 94.
