Garage Fire Damages House, Trailer In Plymouth

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A fire significantly damaged a house, three cars and a trailer in Plymouth Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported around 4:30 a.m. on the 4200 block of Quaker Lane. Authorities said it began in the center of the garage.

One of the residents heard popping and went to the garage to investigate. A Good Samaritan also stopped after seeing the flames and alerted residents inside, the fire department reported.

All four occupants exited the home safely, and firefighters were also able to rescue a cat from inside the burning house.

A second alarm was called, and Robbinsdale, West Metro, Golden Valley, Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center and Wayzata all assisted the Plymouth Fire Department.

Authorities said the trailer that was also destroyed in the fire belonged to one of the residents, who operates City Slickers BBQ. The owner, Nate Berg, said that he was scheduled to attend a barbecue competition this weekend, but that won't happen now.

The fire department said they are focusing on either electrical or one of the cars as a possible source for the fire.
