MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen announced his retirement in a truly Jared Allen-esque way Thursday: by riding off "into the sunset" on his horse.

After being traded from the Kansas City Chiefs, Allen played with the Vikings from 2008 to 2013. There, he set numerous records, including most regular season sacks by a Vikings (22), most consecutive games with a sack (11) and most safeties in a season (2).
