Fmr. Twin Accused Of Assaulting Ex-Wife, Team Cancels HOF Induction
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Twins say they have canceled their 2014 Hall of Fame induction ceremony after recent reports surrounding former second baseman Chuck Knoblauch.
The 46-year-old former baseball star was arrested in Houston, TX early Wednesday morning and charged with a misdemeanor assault.
According to police, officers were dispatched at 3:49 a.m. to a domestic disturbance at a residence on 11702 Forest Glen St. When they arrived, officers spoke with Knoblauch, who they say appeared to be intoxicated.
The victim, Knoblauch's ex-wife, told police that Knoblauch entered a bedroom where she was sleeping with their child, began yelling at her, grabbed her and smashed her head into a wall. He also allegedly threw a humidifier at her and she ran from the room.
Knoblauch was arrested without incident and was later released on a $10,000 bond. His first court date is scheduled for July 30.
In January, Knoblauch was elected to the Twins Hall of Fame. The ceremony was scheduled for Aug. 23 at Target Field.
Knoblauch was drafted by the Twins in the first round of the 1989 MLB Draft. He won the American League Rookie of the Year and a World Series ring in 1991.
