Flash Floods After Torrential Morning Downpours
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Friday morning started out with a significant dose of fresh rain in the Twin Cities, causing a number of problems for commuters.
There were some areas where the rain fell fast enough to cause localized flash flooding.
One area where there was notable flooding observed was in New Hope. A WCCO viewer sent in these pictures from the intersection of Oregon and 42nd.
WCCO director of meteorology Mike Augustyniak said that the rest of the day is expected to bring a drying and clearing trend. The weekend will bring the chance for more raindrops, though, and the early part of next week should be significantly cooler than average.
