MDA: Fish Sold At Twin Cities Market May Have Botulism
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The threat of botulism is behind a consumer advisory for people who bought fish at a Spring Lake Park market.
The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says uneviscerated dried pike and bony fish sold at Asia Market between May 17 and June 10 may be contaminated with Clostridium botulism, a type of food poisoning that can be fatal. An uneviscerated fish still has its internal organs.
Symptoms can include weakness, dizziness, double vison, difficulty breathing, trouble with speaking and swallowing, abdominal distension and constipation.
Consumers are being urged to throw out any fish bought from the market during the aforementioned dates.
