Victim ID'd, Charges Expected In Fatal Shooting At Burnsville Dollar Tree

BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) -- The man who police arrested in Burnsville following a shooting at a Dollar Tree is expected to be charged with murder and assault.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 69-year-old Donald Joseph Hortsch of Rosemount. Another victim is hospitalized, but expected to survive.

Burnsville Police officials say they believe the 12:15 p.m. shooting was an isolated incident, and that the Horstch was a customer in the store. Investigators say Hortsch and Hendrickson did not know each other. Police caught the suspected shooter nearby, minutes later, thanks to the help of witnesses.

Dakota County authorities identified the suspect as 27-year-old Grant David Hendrickson.

"We are still putting the pieces together, and we still don't know the motivation behind the shooting," Burnsville Police Chief Eric Gieseke said. "But that doesn't change the fact that this was an incident that was extremely sad and had a tragic outcome."
