Hwy. 212 Reopens Following Fatal Broadside Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A fatal broadside crash has closed one direction of traffic on Highway 212 and reduced it down to one lane in the opposite direction.

The crash happened near Pioneer Trail, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. A 2007 Buick LaCrosse apparently lost control on the bridge over Bluff Creek and went through the median into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle was then struck by a Ford van.

The driver of the vehicle was killed in the crash. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.

The driver and passenger of the van sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said that the road was closed to traffic heading east. Drivers were being diverted onto Highway 41. Traffic heading west was reduced to one lane. The roadway was fully reopened by noon.
