Head-On Crash On Highway 55 In Eagan Kills 1, Injures Another

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Highway 55 in Eagan, Minn. had to be closed for several hours Friday morning after a head-on collision killed one person and injured another, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Deputies responded to the crash just before 6 a.m. in the area of Highway 55 and Northland Drive in Eagan. Authorities said the westbound side of Highway 55 was closed at Lexington Avenue while officers investigated and assisted at the scene.

Authorities said the crash involved two vehicles, a 2005 Toyota Camry and a 2006 Ford Focus. The State Patrol said the Camry was headed eastbound on Highway 55 when it veered into the westbound lanes of traffic and hit the Focus head-on.

The driver of the Camry, 53-year-old Gary Ferm of Bloomington, was taken to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said 52-year-old Kevin Hough of Farmington was killed.

The highway reopened to traffic late Friday morning.
