State Patrol: 1 Dead, 1 Seriously Hurt In Faribault Crash Involving 10 People
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One person died and another was seriously hurt in a crash late Saturday morning involving as many as 10 people on Interstate 35 near Faribault, according to the State Patrol.
Authorities say the crash, which involved four vehicle and 10 passengers, happened at about 11:45 a.m.
A Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by 40-year-old Chad Gibson of St. Paul, slammed into the back of a Kia Sorento at highway speeds. The State Patrol says Gibson had looked down for a moment before looking up to find traffic in front of him had stopped.
The Sorento hit a Subaru in front of it, which then spun into a Ford Edge.
One person, the driver of the Kia Sorento, died in the crash. The name of the victim has not been released. Edda Connell, 63 of Eden Prairie and a passenger in the Sorento, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The condition of Gibson -- the sole passenger of the Avalanche -- and the conditions of the passengers in the Subaru and Ford have not been released.
