Fans, Players React To Garnett's Return To Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Kevin Garnett's looming return to the Wolves has fans feeling nostalgic.
They're hoping he can bring some of the 1990s magic back to Target Center. Garnett led the Timberwolves to the Western Conference finals in the 2003-04 season and was a fan favorite.
"It's certainly a good business move. He brings intensity and will inspire the younger guys to hustle. I think that's the biggest trait of him as a player," Zach Johnson with ProImage Sports said. "It's a privilege to watch him play. He's the best power forward in the league."
Fans said Garnett's presence with a younger team can only be a good thing. He'll bring a veteran presence to the same court he started his career on.
"I didn't know until you guys told me, but it's exciting," guard Ricky Rubio said. "KG, I'm a big fan of his game and not just his game. He's a winner and I respect that 100 percent. I've wanted to learn from him since day one."
One problem: not all sports stores have been stocking his No. 21 jersey. That's obviously going to change. Along with gear, you can expect Target Center to be a packed house for his return.
"I was a big fan of him back in the day when he was here. I'm from Canada, first game tomorrow so it's super cool first game to have KG back. We'll be able to watch him play," Garnett fan Bill Friesen said.
While Garnett's jersey is certainly a hot item, tickets to Friday night's game against the Phoenix Suns will be too. We checked and there are still tickets available. It's not yet known if Garnett will play Friday night.
