Excellent Educator: Willie Falwell At Richfield High School
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- This morning, the WCCO Morning Show is honoring another excellent educator in the metro who has gone above and beyond to make a difference in students' lives.
This week's Excellent Educator is an art teacher a Richfield High School.
Willie Falwell has been teaching for 42 years. Next year he'll be 70, but he's definitely not slowing down. If life is a work in progress, he's still working on his masterpiece.
"When I go into the classroom, he's always helping kids get better art," Richfield High School principal Jason Wenschlag said. "That stems from his passion for it. Kids see how much he loves art in all its different forms."
Falwell said that the love of the subject keeps him happy to return to the classroom every day.
"If anyone should ever write my life story, for whatever reason it might be, on every page in between every line of pain and glory, art is the best thing that's ever happened to me," Falwell said.
His classes are very independent for the students, and his grading scale is equally creative. His top grade is a triple-A.
Falwell was nominated by a former student, Kevin Klos.
You can nominate a deserving educator by going to the WCCO Morning Show's Facebook page, telling us their name and why they should be WCCO's Excellent Educator of the week.
