Ex-CEO Of Minneapolis Nonprofit Indicted On Fraud Charges
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The former head of a Minnesota nonprofit and his son, a Minneapolis police officer, have been indicted on federal charges of conspiracy, fraud and theft.
Bill Davis, the former CEO of Minneapolis Community Action, and his son Jordan are accused of stealing from the nonprofit to create their own personal slush fund.
The indictment says over a seven-year period, Davis used $250,000 buy cars, airline tickets, hotel stays and a luxury cruise with money intended to help low-income residents. Jordan Davis is accused of getting paid $140,000 for a no-show job at a Ben and Jerry's ice cream shop.
Jordan Davis is the Minneapolis police officer who was hailed as a hero after he was shot responding to a north Minneapolis robbery earlier this year. A Minneapolis Police spokesperson said the Department is reviewing the indictment, and at this point has not made a decision on whether Officer Davis will be put on any form of restricted duty.
