Pedestrian Killed In Elko New Market, Motorcyclist Arrested

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A motorcyclist was arrested Sunday after hitting and killing a 24-year-old woman in Elko New Market and fleeing the scene, according to police.

Authorities responded at about 2:24 a.m. to a report of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian and a motorcycle on the 9700 block of Main Street. Officers with the Elko New Market Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

When authorities arrived, they found a woman who had suffered life-threatening injuries. Life-saving measures were attempted, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman has not been identified. After an investigation, the suspect was located, arrested and taken to the Scott County Jail pending criminal charges. The suspect is an adult male, but he has not been identified.

The crash remains under investigation by Elko New Market police with assistance from the Scott County Sheriff's Office.
