Eagan Man Makes Fifth Game Show Appearance
EAGAN, Minn. (WCCO) – A Minnesota man's Thursday win on 'Let's Make A Deal' marked his fifth game show appearance.
Pierre Audet hosted a viewing party at his restaurant, Saga, in Eagan Thursday.
"I'm just very excited!" Audet said.
Audet made a deal to win new kitchen appliances worth more than $5,000.
But it's hardly his best score yet.
In 1988 he won a new car on 'The Price Is Right' and was hooked.
"I try and go on a game show every 2-3 years," he said.
So far he's been on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire,' 'The Dating Game,' 'The Price Is Right' twice and now 'Let's Make a Deal.'
He's even named burgers in his restaurant after all the game show hosts he has met. Wayne Brady's Burger was crafted after Brady named his favorite burger toppers: sriracha, pepper jack cheese and jalapenos.
Others on the menu include the Bob Barker Burger, Drew Carey Burger, and Regis Philbin Burger.
It all stems from a love of game shows when he was a kid.
"I would take my toys to the neighborhood kids and I would play games to give my toys away," Audet said. "I've always been obsessed with game."
Now, he has perfected his strategy for a selection process he says is far from random.
"It's an interview process for all the game shows," Audet said. "I used to think it was random. I have a few jokes, standard stock jokes, that I throw out in the interview and that usually gets me on."
Audet's real secret may not be thinking on his feet, but actually on them.
He sports a pair of yellow hi-tops from three decades ago.
"They're about 30 years old," he said. "They've got holes in them, and I feel they're really lucky so I've worn them on every game show."
Audet also said he thinks it helps that he's really hyper and that game shows like people from the Midwest.
His next goal is to compete on 'The Amazing Race.'
"I've already traveled the world a little bit," he said. "And I speak five languages so I feel like I'd have a good shot at winning the prize of a million dollars."
