Duluth Firefighter Charged With Sexually Assaulting Infant
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — A Duluth firefighter has been charged with sexually assaulting a baby girl.
Caleb Lofald, 32, is accused of having sexual contact with a four-month-old girl at his Hermantown residence in May 2013, according to a criminal complaint.
Police investigators found 11 images of the baby, according to the complaint. Police also obtained secretly recorded video made in September showing a 6-year-old boy and an adult woman in various stages of undress in the defendant's guest room and bathroom, the complaint said.
Lofald has been on administrative leave since November.
Duluth police say officers searched Lofald's home and the fire station where he works as part of an Internet crime investigation. Court records do no list an attorney for Lofald.
Assistant St. Louis County Attorney, Gary Bjorklund, said Lofald had an initial appearance Friday, where a judge set bail at $250,000 without conditions or $100,000 with supervised release and no contact with minors.
Lofald was charged Thursday with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, possessing pictorial representation of minors, interfering with privacy against a minor and interfering with privacy.
If convicted of all four counts, Lofald could face up to 33 years in prison and a $48,000 fine.
