Sheriff: Driver With 5 DWIs Crashes Car, Flees Scene

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A man with a history of drunken driving and another person were injured in a crash in eastern Minnesota Monday morning.

According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, Caske Owen was driving on Rush Point Drive in Rush City around 5 a.m. when his vehicle went off the road. Owen was speeding at the time. The vehicle flipped several times and came to rest near a house.

Owen fled the scene, the sheriff's office said, leaving an injured passenger in the vehicle. A helicopter transported the passenger to Regions Hospital.

A K-9 search led authorities to Owen, who had fled to the nearby house. The homeowner was not home at the time. The sheriff's office said Owen had a head injury and was flown to a hospital for treatment.

The sheriff's office said alcohol may be involved. Owen has five DWI convictions.
