Dozier, Perkins To Represent Twins In All-Star Game

CINCINNATI (AP) — Second baseman Brian Dozier and closer Glen Perkins will represent the Minnesota Twins in the All-Star game.

Dozier was added to the American League squad by AL manager Ned Yost. Dozier replaces Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista, who is skipping the All-Star game to receive treatment on his sore right shoulder.

Dozier was beaten out by Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas in an online contest for the last spot on the team.

Dozier is batting .256 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs plus 67 runs and 48 extra-base hits. It's his first trip to the All-Star game.

Perkins is an All-Star for the third consecutive time. He has 28 saves out of 28 opportunities.

The All-Star game is Tuesday at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
