Dozens Displaced After Brooklyn Center Apartment Fire

BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (WCCO) – More than 25 residents were displaced Sunday night after a fire at a Brooklyn Center apartment complex.

Around 5:15 p.m., the Brooklyn Center Fire Department was called to the Twin Lakes North Apartments where a caller reported a deck fire. When crews arrived, heavy fire and smoke were coming from two units on the third floor.

Crews were able to put out the flames, and occupants got out of the building with no injuries reported. Authorities say the entire building is uninhabitable as power had to be cut and the boiler to provide the building heat was shut down.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities said they don't believe it is suspicious. The American Red Cross is assisted 27 residents with food, clothing, shelter and additional needs.
