Dominic Ondoro, Serkalem Abraha Win Twin Cities Marathon
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – In a little over two hours, the first runner finished the Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday.
Dominic Ondoro won the race with an unofficial time of two hours and 11 minutes, according to Twin Cities in Motion, the organization that puts on the race.
The professional runner from Kenya was followed by Elisha Barno and Jacob Chemtai, both of whom are also from Kenya.
The first woman to cross the finish line was Serkalem Abraha, of Ethiopia, with a time of two hours and 31 minutes. She was followed by Jane Kibii, of Kenya, and Simegen Yeshanbel.
The race route started near the construction site of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, snaked through the chain of lakes and ended near the State Capitol.
The weather conditions were close to ideal: sunny with temperatures in the 40s.
