DNR, Mpls. Park Board Demos Proper Tree Planting
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The month of May is dedicated to planting trees in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board demonstrated perfect tree planting at Lake Nokomis Park Friday afternoon.
Experts say make sure you do it correctly. First step, don't dig the hole too deep.
In addition to keeping the main tree root at surface level, be sure to water it.
A newly planted tree needs to be watered at least once a week for three years.
