NEXT Weather: 6 a.m. report

MINNEAPOLIS -- Officials have issued an alert for "extreme fire risk conditions" in southern and western Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources said a red flag warning is in effect for Big Stone, Cottonwood, Jackson, Lac Qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Rock, Traverse and Yellow Medicine counties  from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday.
