DFL Senators Face Ethics Hearings In Coming Weeks
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Two Democratic state senators face ethics hearings in the coming weeks over Republican allegations that they misused their political positions for personal gain.
Sen. Jeff Hayden is scheduled to face a Senate ethics panel on Oct. 22. Sen. Bobby Joe Champion goes before the committee on Nov. 5. Top Senate Republicans filed the complaints over the last month alleging that Hayden and Champion, both of Minneapolis, said they would deny state funding for Minneapolis Public Schools if the district didn't give a contract to a specific community nonprofit.
Hayden faces a separate allegation in his complaint that he misused public funds as a board member of a separate community group. Both lawmakers have denied the allegations.
