Deer River Woman Gets 5 Years For Robbery

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (AP) -- A Deer River woman has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for robbing a Grand Rapids business of about $350.

Twenty-five-year-old Diana Jones pleaded guilty Monday in Istasca County court to one felony count of first degree aggravated robbery. She was charged in the Oct. 10 robbery of Stokes Printing.

Jones tells the judge she used a BB gun to threaten the store clerk. She says it looked like a pistol and the clerk would have believed it was a firearm. Police caught her minutes after the robbery.

Jones could be released after about three years with credit for good behavior. She was also ordered to pay about $500 in restitution.
