Dedications This Week For 2 MLB All-Star Projects

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- As part of the Twin Cities' MLB All-Star Game festivities, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and the Minnesota Twins are celebrating the dedication of two projects in Minneapolis.

One is an expansion and improvement of the youth baseball field in Northeast Park, which will hence be dubbed the Sid Hartman All-Star Field. That dedication happens Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.

The other project will be construction of a new artificial turf baseball field in Xcel Park -- the Rod Carew All-Star Field. That project will be commemorated on Friday at 6 p.m.

Finding for both projects came from the MLB, the Twins (along with the team's community fund) and the Pohlad Family Foundation. Scotts also donated on the Sid Hartman field.

Recently, the Minnesota Twins honored Hartman at a pre-game ceremony in May.
