Cub's Uptown location reopens after early morning fire

MINNEAPOLIS — A grocery store in south Minneapolis is now open following a fire Friday morning.

According to fire officials, there was a fire in the back of the Cub Foods, located at 1104 Lagoon Ave., that has since been extinguished.

The fire caused a lot of smoke and prompted the temporary closure of the store.

A representative of UNFI, which owns the store, says a small fire started in the store's compactor, which is located outside the building. Cub management is working with authorities to support the investigation into the fire.

There were no injuries and the store was reopened later in the morning.
