Counselors On Hand At Minnetonka After Teen Shot By Police

CHANHASSEN, Minn. (AP) -- Minnetonka High School is staffed with counselors to help friends of Archer Amorosi deal with his death.

The 16-year-old student athlete was fatally shot by Carver County sheriff's deputies Friday after they were called to his family's home in Chanhassen. His mother said her son was suicidal and was threatening her with knives and a baseball bat.

Principal Jeff Erickson says the school will be staffed Monday for anyone needing assistance.

The Star Tribune reports the boy's father had called 911 on Thursday to report his son had become enraged over losing his car privileges. The father told a dispatcher his son had not taken his medication for depression.

The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office released autopsy results Sunday which showed Amorosi died of multiple gunshot wounds.
