Fmr. Cook Co. Att'y Gets 30 Days For Criminal Sexual Conduct

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A former county attorney from northern Minnesota has been sentenced for criminal sexual conduct.

Former Cook County Attorney Tim Scannell will serve 30 days in jail and will have 10 years of probation.

He is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Scannell was replaced as the Cook County prosecutor after he was convicted in a case involving a 17-year-old girl.

A jury decided Scannell abused a position of authority when he kissed and allegedly touched the girl.

The girl's family sought a restraining order against Scannell, who they say was a longtime family friend.
