Construction worker dies after being hit by work truck in downtown St. Paul

St. Paul construction worker killed at work site

ST. PAUL, Minn. – A construction worker was struck and killed by a work truck Wednesday afternoon in downtown St. Paul.

Police say it happened at about 3:30 p.m. near Wabasha Street North and West Seventh Street near the Minnesota Children's Museum.

On Thursday, the St. Paul Police Department identified the man as 61-year-old Peter Davis of Stillwater.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating, saying "there appears to be no indication of impairment or criminal intent."

St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter said Davis had a 44-year career with St. Paul Regional Water Services.

"He was innovative, kind, and committed to delivering the very best service possible," Carter said. "My condolences go to Pete's family and all of those who cherish him."
