Community Members Gather In Mpls. To Discuss Workers' Rights
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Community members came together in Minneapolis Saturday to talk about workers' rights, from wages to sick leave.
Minnesota lawmakers have been discussing a law that would help workers with benefits and fair scheduling.
"Sometimes you have to choose when you come into work, if you're a parent and you have a sick child, or you're sick," organizer Octancia Adams said. "I believe we need stronger workers' rights because a lot of us do a lot of the important work in our communities."
The group is calling for a raise in the national minimum wage to $15 an hour. They'll be holding a rally on Nicollet Mall next Tuesday.
