Coffee Shop Gives Discount If You Say 'Please'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A coffee shop in Virginia found a unique way to encourage its customers to use the "magic words," like "please" and "thank you."

A small coffee at CUPS Coffee and Tea in Roanoke is normally $5 if you just ask for "one small coffee."

But if you say "Please" with your order, the coffee is three dollars. And if you say "Hello, I'd like one small coffee please," it's just $1.75.

The sign was the idea of Austin Simms, who says he wanted customers to connect more with people behind the counter.

The coffee shop has gotten plenty of attention this week after putting up the sign.
